Who Will Win the Annie Awards in 2012?

I have no clue which animated television productions will win Annie Awards in 2012. Too many top cartoons have been nominated this year. Either way, here are some of my guesses.

Best General Audience TV Production

The only cartoons that I actually watch that got nominated for this award are Archer and The Simpsons. To be honest, I haven’t watched the Simpsons in years. I have heard that the more recent seasons are good. On the other hand, I have no idea how Archer got nominated for anything but an “adult” tv production.

My bet is that neither cartoon will get the award. I hope that Green Lantern: The Animated Series wins because I love the Green Lantern comics.

Best Animated Television Production – Children

The Amazing World of Gumball will obviously win! Yet, I wouldn’t mind if Fanboy and Chum Chum receive the Annie award instead. Fanboy and Chum Chum might be one of the only 3d cartoon that I have liked since Reboot and Beasties (Beast Wars).

Other Nomination Categories

Character Design in a Television Production

Either Chad Hurd for his work his work on Archer or Robert Ryan Cory for the Secret Mountain Fort Awesome character design. I really love the originality of the Secret Mountain Fort Awesome monsters!

Directing in a Television Production

Mic Graves & Ben Bocquelet the directors of The Amazing World of Gumball. I am totally a Gumball fanboy!

Music in a Television Production

This is a hard pick. I really hate Robot Chicken but I do have to admit the music in the television series isn’t half bad. Kevin Kliesch also did a really good job in the new Thundercats television series.

The award will still end up going to Ben Locket. Why? He did the music for The Amazing World of Gumball!

Production Design in a Television Production

There are only two nominees for this category. I haven’t seen Hoops & YoYo Ruin Christmas but I have a feeling it can’t win against the production design behind Secret Mountain Fort Awesome!

Storyboarding in a Television Production

Once again, I’d enjoy it if Fanboy & Chum Chum won but I fear they won’t. Rebecca Sugar from Adventure Time has to win!

Voice Acting in a Television Production

This is another hard pick. I’m not even going to attempt to guess because too many of my all-time favourite cartoon characters have been nominated for this award.

  • Carlos Alazraqui as Denzel Crocker “Fairly OddParents”
  • Daran Norris as Cosmo “Fairly OddParents”
  • H. Jon Benjamin as Sterling Archer “Archer”
  • Jessica Walter as Malory Archer “Archer”
  • Logan Grove as Gumball “The Amazing World of Gumball”

Writing in a Television Production

Did they start a new season of Futurama? I hope I don’t seen like a total loser for asking that question… Here’s the list of my favourite Annie Awards nominees in this category:

  • Carolyn Omine “The Simpsons -Treehouse of Horror XXII”
  • Dani Michaeli, Sean Charmatz, Nate Cash, Luke Brookshier, Paul Tibbitt “SpongeBob SquarePants – Patrick’s Staycation”
  • Josh Weinstein “Futurama – All The President’s Heads”
  • Ray DeLaurentis, Will Schifrin, Kevin Sullivan “Fairly OddParents “Invasion of the Dads”

You can try to guess by checking out the nominations! You should also like the Annie Awards on Facebook to win a trip to Pixar Studios.

Also, check out Cartoon Brew‘s live-stream of the Annie Awards. It’s all happening on Saturday, February 4th at 7pm. Be there or be square!

I just realized that I am a total fan of Cartoon Network and ‘old’ Nickelodeon cartoons!
