David Suzuki recently said that a random person chosen would be better than a true politician. You can google it or trust me.
Would a party like this need a full time professional staff or should everything be random?
I’m assuming a party would be needed as it would allow the option for voters to promote this idea.
Ad blocker use is on the rise. While using CPU of users to mine crypto might be a good alternative, why not try and support artists?
The concept would be to replace ads with art either purchasable or from museum collections.
Auctions as usual or affiliate would produce income. However, a free layer would be presented if no bids or affiliate is found.
Browser Plugin VS Publisher Network
If you monetize the ads and focus on user acquisition via a browser plugin, you may get lawsuits from publishers as you are stealing their income. It does open up data selling.
On the other hand, recruiting publishers may be a hassle. It is a pretty simple sell if you brand it as a way to convince ad blockers to white list your site. It may be potentially viable to have ad blocker extension enable your ads by default.
It would be interesting to have data to support who would win between boxers of different historical periods. There’s also lots of money to be made when you can find a way to promote a horrible addiction like gambling.
Using the following data, a program would attempt to give accurate odds to match ups:
- Basic match information (wins, losses, K.O.)
- Types of punches thrown and landed where
- Types of punches received and landed where
- Tactics used vs different styles of boxers
- Punches per round / fatigue
This would hopefully could be robust enought to predict past wins and losses.
Getting the Historical Boxing Data
Without this data, the business is useless. Currently, only win / loss stats are publicly available.
Cheap labour or video analysis software may be able to build data around video footage. However, this data would not be complete and should be treated as a sample.
Restaurant concept. Set menu with 1 to 2 meals a day. Minimizing waste. Low price range. Memberships. Silent. Mobile free zone.
This is definitely inspired by monastic dining experiences.
Arrives at entrance. Pays fee or shows membership. Enters and sits at designated seat.
All seats on a table face in the same direction, cutting available seating in half. A line drawn on the table also highlights this seperation. On the table, closest to the chairs are the utensils and empty plates or bowls as needed.
A client who requires food pushes the appropriate bowl across the line. Waiters with food are always on alert for this action. Sensors could also be added to the table to help with notification.
Once a client has his fills, he gets up and leaves. Everything is settled.
It may be hard to deal with allergies. All meals will most likely be vegan. Risk of allergy attacks could be mitigated from membership data.
If unlimited portions becomes an issue. Instead of paying up front, patrons would be issued a card that keeps tracks of their servings. As they exit, they pay balance on card.
Butt Plants are fashion accessories made from:
- Underwear or belt buckle
- A plant
- A recipient and soil for the plant
The purpose is to prevent embarassing situations where a person would have normally shown their butt crack by constantly having a plant in the way.
While the underwear and recipients may be interchangeable allowing users to alternate styles and plants, the soil is not. A client will need to repurchase soil and nutriments for the plant. Lots of money here, trust me.
Advertising product is simple
There are millions of good ads to be made.
A man walks into an Italian restaurant. The camera is facing his as he starts to sit down. In the background, all faces turn towards the man’s rear. Suddenly, a nonna says “May I?” She leans in a plucks the man’s rear and visbily now had basil in her hand…
A butt cliché.
If you’re looking for general tips on choosing a driving school in Montreal, this post may or may not be for you. However, it may help you figure out where and which school you would like to sign up to. This is a journal of my though process while choosing where to take my driving lessons.
Should It Be Close to Work or Home
First question before I am even going to start looking for schools is whether I should find a school near my apartment in NDG or my workplace in Little Italy.
The advantages of a driving school near home are:
- Require less travel on weekends
- Would end relatively close to home for classes
The advantages of a driving school near work are:
- Less travel on weekdays
- May require extra travel on weekends
I’d rather not waste too much time on the weekends so I’ve decided to look at a driving school closer to home. In fact, I’ve pinpointed a location. I will be looking at driving schools near Snowdon metro.
Snowdon is on the same metro line as my workplace and is only one stop away from my home. This makes it a hassle free area for my driving lessons.
While researching schools, I learnt that you can not often switch branches. Driving school branches are not always owned by the same people so there may be a fee for switching.
Driving Schools near Snowdon Metro
There seems to be three real driving schools near Snowdon. Real driving schools have websites that can be found relatively easy.
They all have horrible looking websites.
- Morty’s Driving School – http://www.mortysdrivingschool.com/
- Transit Driving School – http://www.transitdrivingschool.com/
- City Driving School – http://www.smartdrivers.com/
City Driving School
Their site gave me a bad vibe and they have a really confusing tiered pricing system. I’ve already eliminated them as an option.
Morty’s Driving School Montreal
They have some reviews on other sites and seems decent. The pricing is similar to Transit ($825). Most negative reviews are tied to their other branches.
Transit Driving School Snowdon
They are having a promotion where the cost of the classes are cheaper than the competition ($699). They also offer the most information about what the actual class progression is. I’ll be calling them today!
Driving is expensive, taking the bus or subway isn’t. There’s less flexibility, but the savings and the extra reading time are definitely worth it. Getting your driver’s permit in Quebec also isn’t cheap, costing both a cash and time. It’s why I figured it wasn’t worth my time getting a driver’s permit.
Traveling to Remote Parks
I recently got back from a canoe camping trip at La Mauricie National Park for work. It was extremely enjoyable and I’d like to relive a similar experience.
The problem is that I would need to find lifts. Most national parks and remote campgrounds are not easily accessible by foot or bus. As someone who hates planning, it would be much easier for me to rent a car for a weekend than try and plan something with my friends or family members with licenses. It also doesn’t hurt that you will be able to get into any Park Canada parks free soon!
Spontaneous Day Trips
This is pretty obvious. While travelling out of the country is great. If I only have a few days, I’d like to be able start exploring cities around Montreal.
Cheap Hotel Rooms
I don’t mind the idea of sleeping in car. Will have to update this when I try it.
I’ve finally finished the first version of t.omlinson.com.
I was getting tired of the “philtomm” as a username and domain name. It violated one of the most important rules in almost all disciplines: if you’re creating something that other people will use, make it idiot proof.
My email is philip@philtomm, with two “M”s, dot com.
The number of confused looks and the amount of people who would ignore the two “M”s warning or end up putting three “M”s was higher than expected.
In addition, the double “M” started to look just plain ugly.
I’m launching this site as is, but I will definitely work on the design in the future. I just want to get back into a more consistent blogging habit before investing me time in coding and design for this personal project.
Broken Link Warning
You may still get broken links as I didn’t do a massive clean up yet. I did try to limit the number of broken images. In any case, have fun clicking on things that lead to nowhere.
I could go on a rant about how I want to create a stronger personal brand, but that would be bullshit.
While doing some
spring autumn cleaning, I discovered a few funky files informing me that I’ve been hacked.
I had neglected to update core WordPress, themes and plugins of a lot of my first web projects. I have payed the price for my laziness.
I feel like it will be easier to manage and less risky if I just begin to dump it all my content here.
I had not found a niche that I was particular passionate about. I also hadn’t/haven’t found the willpower to force myself into becoming obsessed about a topic. So I am not too affected by the hack (most of the sites had been abandoned), it’s just pretty annoying to have to half-ass redirect everything late at night.
In any case, there’s a bunch more cleaning to be done in the next few days.
